Tips to enhance security when operating an armored vehicle - How to get the most out of your armored vehicle

Armored or not, your car is the best protection against criminals but paradoxically also represents your greatest risk.

The perfect withdition for crime is:

  • Un auto
  • That it is not in motion
  • With at least one person on board (or nearby with the keys)

This is precisely what criminals look for to be able to commit from an assault, car theft, a kidnapping and even a homicide.

If we know how to use our vehicle correctly, we can reverse the risks and use it as our best weapon to evade the problem, exit the risk withdition and take ourselves to a safe place, protect ourselves from attacks and even use it to clear the way, ram or tow.

Therefore it is important to observe the following recommendations:

  1. Try to board and get out of your vehicle in enclosed spaces such as garages or carports. When not possible try to do soas close to the door as possiblede su origen o destino. These should already be open when you arrive at the vehicle. Abre y between al auto.
  2. Una vez que haya abordadolock the doors, put on your seat belt and start the vehicle moving.
  3. No se detenga. Criminals know that to be able to threaten you they require the vehicle to be static.
  4. Si ve algo sospechoso o extrañotry to get away before they approach or threaten you.
  5. Utilice sus implementos adicionales.  If you have a siren, lights, pepper spray, etc. you can use them to scare off the attackers while evading.
  6. Siempre mantenga una distancia prudente with the car in front, even in lines or at traffic lights, this will allow you to get out of a problem if it arises.
  7. Do not carry visible items on the seats. Store them in the trunk, glove box or under the passenger seat.
  8. No baje la ventanilla.  If someone wants to tell you or ask you something, don't fall for the trap.  Always consider that it may be a deception or distraction for amagarlo.
  9. Recuerde que when entering or exiting risks increase y debe estar más alerta.  If upon arriving at your destination you see something suspicious it is preferable to drive around the block o pedir a una patrulla que identifique a los  extraños.  No se detenga, no se baje del auto y do not enter your destination if you are not certain that the environment is safe.
  10. Conozca la dinámica de su vehículo.  Armored cars have different dynamics for braking, turns, power, suspension, etc.
  11. If someone drives your vehicle for you (a driver) make sure they know these tips and periodically verify that they drive the vehicle in accordance with them.
