For armoring purposes, an attack is defined as the attempt to assaswithoutate a person with premeditation, planning and surprise. It is usually committed when the victim is on the street or driving in their vehicle.
Attacks against the lives of people at different social levels are increasingly being committed by all types of criminals, and although due to their covert nature there are no statistics about this type of crime, there is a perception that the most common ones continue to be those caused by organized crime, which uses powerful and sophisticated weapons such as M-16 and Winchester assault rifles, or high-power weapons such as those used by snipers, which fire 7.62x54 mm caliber projectiles.
For these reasons, armoring levels 5 and 6 are widely used by people who think they may be the target of a life-threatening attack.
How does it protect against an attack?
The following are the various functions that an armored vehicle can fulfill when facing an attempted attack.

An armored vehicle is a highly effective protection element against attacks, first because the firearm ceases to be a real threat element (if the vehicle has an adequate armoring level) and secondly because the glass cannot be broken with a blow or a hand strike.

An armored vehicle is a DETERRENCE element against an attack
The armored vehicle is also a deterrence tool, thanks to the fact that the driver can activate the alarm and strobe lights, which make the people around focus their attention on the crime, thereby exposing criminals more. Additionally, if it has a GPS tracking device, the alarm also triggers the tracking system.

An armored vehicle is an ESCAPE element against an attack
Finally, an armored vehicle is also an escape means, this by virtue of the irritant gas (pepper spray) that it releases around its perimeter, effectively incapacitating the attackers and opening spaces to escape.

What armoring is recommended?
Because they pursue a specific objective and require prior preparation, attacks are likely to be perpetrated by organized crime using long weapons. The projectiles from these weapons are stopped with the highest armoring levels such as level 5 and level 6 armoring (more about Armoring Levels here).

Names of this level in international standards
PG levels 5 and 5 - B33 Multi-hit are equivalent to levels III, IV and IV+ of the NIJ (National Institute of Justice, United States), levels 5 and 8 of the Underwriters Laboratories standard, levels 4 and 5 of the German standard and levels D and E of the Mexican Official Standard.
